My thoughts, prayers, and dedication go out to this beautiful young lady tonight.
Unfortunately, this young lady’s family and friends did not get the news they wanted to hear when State Troopers identified the body that was found off one of our local highways back in August to be Lacey Yekel’s. The last known contact with this young lady was back in June. I’m still shocked and do not understand why there wasn’t a missing person report filed until after a body was found almost 3 months later. I’m very interested in knowing why it appears as if nobody cared enough about this beautiful girl to know what was going on in her life. One of my daughters is her age and even though she is married and has her own life if I hadn’t heard from her in a couple days you can bet I’d be all over the fact of wanting to know where she is and what is going on in her life.
Lacey Yekel turned 25 on August 27, 2014. This birthday the special gift of a piece of mind for her family within a couple days of her birthday from the state troopers was when they were led to a body which a couple of months later would be identified as hers. Now may there be another blessed gift of justice for Lacey to know who would have left her abandoned in her time of need.
I’ve been following this story since it was reported that the State Troopers found a partially wrapped body on August 29, 2014 off State Highway 420 in Massena, NY. I did not know Lacey or her family, but after seeing many post from social and news media I feel like I know her and my heart hurts for her. It is apparent that Lacy struggled with drug and alcohol issues and that she so needed someone in her life that she could turn to for help. One of the last post I recognized posted by Lacey on her facebook page was back in April of last year and she herself posted;
“I had the day off today but went out and found some work to do. I helped out cut trees and cleared some brush. I had a blast it was fun staying busy is the key to my sobriety. I love every minute of my life now as opposed to before i hated everyone and every minute of my life. God has a mission for me and he finally got me in the right spot this moment in life is when i start living and i can finally see all that i was missing. I am so grateful for everyone in my life today and every good thing that comes my way.”
Angel, Lacey may justice be found for you with God’s help in a mission to find the people that lead you and so many others in our surrounding areas out of their happy safe places in life. May you now rest your soul in your safe life with all the love and happiness that you so well deserved in your life.
It really is so scarey to know that the town we used to roam around with all the neighbor kids until dusk just isn’t safe anymore. There was something so special about getting up in the am and having a day planned out in our local parks, down to the river, or taking walks to one of our local stores or the library. What happened to those days? I’m frightened for the last two children I have growing up in the public schools. I’m frightened for all of our community and what has come in and trying to take over here.
As a family, school, business, and community can we all hold on a little tighter to our loved ones and make time to know where they are in their lives and know who our neighbors are. If something just doesn’t feel right pull together as one to create the bond that is needed to take control, cause without that bond we have nothing.
