On December 26, 2007 I had a Massive Heart Attack after being admitted in the Canton Potsdam Hospital in NY for Ulcerative Colitis. At 39 Years old I was never so thankful than for Dr. Elizabeth M. Logalbo acting so quickly, saving my life, and getting me transferred to the Fletcher Allen Health Care – Hospital in Burlington, VT where you couldn’t ask for a better team of Doctors or Specialist for Health Care Providers. My diagnosis was that my acute myocardial infarction was caused by a Left Ventricular Thrombus which was a blood clot in the left ventricle of the heart. It was my understanding that when the thrombus detaches itself from the ventricular wall and travels through the circulation it blocks blood vessels and a blockage can be especially damaging in the heart or brain also causing stroke. With this being said and with the luck of having minimal damage to my heart I’ve been given a second chance to Love and Listen to my Heart.
After all that I have endured in seven years with a long battle of many health issues I’m ready to share my story of what I feel it took to get back on the health wagon. So today I’ve decided to dedicate this month February, American Heart Month to sharing a little something each day about all that I’ve learned about keeping my Heart Healthy & Happy.
